In a world where leaders see differences as something negative, I wanted to adress the beauty of how COLOR-FULL and amazing a multifaceted and diverse world can be.
Since I was a kid I’ve loved the peace symbol and my very first pair of earrings were silver studs with cute little dangling PEACE signs.
When I started to investigate the peace symbol for this collection of circular paintings, I was so fascinated with how the British designer Gerald Holtom innovated this modern version in 1958. He made it for the British Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (ND). The vertical line in the center represents the flag semaphore signal for the letter D, and the downward lines on either side represent the semaphore signal for the letter N.
